Daily Prayer – Jan 4

2 Kings 5:11 But Naaman became angry and went away, saying, “I thought that for me he would surely come out, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and would wave his hand over the spot, and cure the leprosy!

O God, our Help in ages past, our Hope for years to come: so much of the praying we people talk about is for healing and help. So often, people’s faith is upset by the suffering so many face. I call out today because You are the One to call. I pray because of the prayers that are yet to be ‘answered.’

For blessings in their bodies I pray for Mike and for Doug, both in hospital. May Mike be able to recover, with all his body’s functions returning to normal. May Doug be diagnosed, and treated with just the right things to help his physical situation. Loving God, may they both be encouraged in mind and heart, and those dear to them also be helped and given hope. Whatever they think should happen, or will happen, may what happens be better and more blessed, by Your grace. Amen.

Daily Prayer, Dec 29

James 5:15 The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.

God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, it is a calm Wednesday. An ordinary day between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The fifth day of Christmas. I remember that for many people it is another day of illness or injury, another day of seeking healing.

So I pray, as I so often do, for the folk who are taking medicine today, going for therapy, receiving treatments, recovering from surgery, undergoing medical tests, or simply trying to get through another day. Let Your Spirit shower them with care and courage and healing: Mike and Joe and Dwight and Jonathan and Doug and Peter and Heather and Jack and Maggie and Eric and so on… In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Daily Prayer – Dec 7

John 5:6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

In the name of Jesus the healer I pray today. I have been given life for this new day: praise You! I can look back upon healing in my life over the years: thank You! I have seen the healing touch of medical folks and people of prayer: hallelujah! Today I pray, as I often do, for people I know who have health problems. Especially from here in Digby, may there be blessings in body and spirit for Doug, for Dwight, for Joe, for Andrew, for Jonathan, for Mandy, for Peter, for Jack, for Terry, and for many others…

Spirit of the spiritual gifts, let there be freedom and inspiration for people who have gifts of healing and prayer, to exercise their power with You. Let their intercession bring on miracles. Let their visits and their touch make use of Your power. Let their mentoring of others inspire many to take up the work of prayer even more, for the sake of the good Jesus wants to do in people’s day-to-day lives. In His name. Amen.
